Youth Services Librarian, Chelmsford Public Library, (Chelmsford, MA)

Due to an internal promotion, the Chelmsford Public Library has an opening for a librarian in our thriving Youth Services department. We’re looking for you: a creative professional with experience in programming and collection development for children and teens.

Our ideal candidate will have experience working with a team to design and provide vibrant programs to kids ages 0-18 and their families. This librarian will be ready to assist the Youth Services Department Head with collection development; not just looking for the newest, high-quality items, but also on the lookout for titles that will be a reader’s next favorite book. Comfort and experience working with middle- and high-schoolers is essential.

Salary: $54,008 to $79,066 in ten steps
Schedule: 37.5 hours weekly including one evening and a minimum of one Saturday out of four.
Education and Training:

  • MLS/MLIS or MLS/MLIS candidate preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
    coursework relating to youth services desired
  • Substantial experience working with children, teens, and their caregivers
  • Working knowledge and appreciation of children’s and young adult literature
