Duties/Description: The Board of Trustees of the Chase Library Association is seeking a new Library Director to coordinate library services to the local community. Chase Library is a small, historic, trustee run (not associated with CLAMS) library in the village of West Harwich. The library dates back to 1905 and its building is on the National Register of Historic Places. Candidates should be interested in preservation, library development, fund raising, and future planning.
The position is non-benefited and part time; the library is open 10 hours per week including Tuesday and Saturday hours. No evening hours are required; special programming may require additional hours.
Qualifications: A four-year degree is preferred though not required. A background in library sciences and past experience in delivering library services are required. Among other things, the librarian will be responsible for: planning and delivering patron-centered services reader advisory services; ensuring a comprehensive library inventory; using current technology and social media to promote the library; and serving as library spokesperson. Of primary importance are excellent interpersonal skills, experience in pursuing fund raising and grant opportunities, planning and executing library programs, advising the Board on matters of operation, policies/procedures, programs and services as well as regulatory compliance.
Salary: $15.00 per hour
