Location: Town of Saugus , Saugus Public Library

Schedule: 12 hours per week

Pay Rate: (Union Scale): $20.92 to $23.78 per hour

Job Summary:

Library Associates provide direct customer service to library patrons of all ages at the Circulation and Children’s Desks. Perform day-to-day circulation tasks including, checking items in/out, helping patrons locate materials, answering telephones, and shelving materials. This position will include two evening shifts and an alternating Friday/Saturday shift.

Essential Functions:

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

·Provide customer service for library users.

·Help people locate reference and leisure reading materials.

·Collect and catalog library resources including books, films, and publications.

·Must maintain patron privacy and handle small monetary transactions according to library policy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·Knowledge of computers, the internet, and commercially available library software

·Demonstrated knowledge of library materials and resources

·Good communication and interpersonal skills

·Good client/customer service skills

·Ability to quickly and professionally search databases, internet resources, and catalogs tofind needed information

Qualifications: Associate degree or higher preferred
