Public Services Librarian / Assistant Director, Sherborn Library, (Sherborn, MA)


The newly renovated and expanded Sherborn Library opened its doors this Spring. We are seeking a full-time Public Services Librarian / Assistant Director to join our excellent team and provide services in our new Library. Responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day Circulation Desk operations, staffing the Reference Desk, providing excellent reader’s advisory and reference/information services, training staff, managing interlibrary loans and aiding the Library Director in reporting. The Public Services Librarian / Assistant Director participates in collection development, initiates programming with the support of our vibrant Friends of the Library group and promotes the Library’s mission in the community.

Master of Library Science (MLS) is preferred or progress towards the MLS from an accredited library school, with concentration in Reference Services. Familiarity with the array of technology currently offered in the public library setting and competency in standard office environment software is beneficial.

The ideal candidate will be an innovative, self-motivated professional who is dedicated to public service. Creative flair, a high energy level and keen intelligence is essential.
