Content Archiving Intern, YW Boston, Boston, MA

Job Description

This is a paid internship opportunity this summer or fall for a student studying library science. YW Boston is seeking a student to help us audit and catalogue content we’ve developed across several programs. All of the content is related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The internship is remote, though students could come into the office by choice. 

This is a paid internship position, paying $15/hour.  We anticipate the intern working 15-20 hours a week.

Position Outcomes

The successful Intern will achieve the following outcomes:

  • Complete an audit of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion content created by YW Boston
  • Create a searchable archive of written, visual, and video content
  • Develop and deliver a staff training on using the archive

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with program, marketing, and engagement staff
  • Identify content created by YW Boston from across various teams and programs
  • Recommend and implement a structure to organize content by topic area
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and other key staff to provide status updates, gather feedback, and assign tasks as needed

Additional Organization Responsibilities

  • Adhere to organization policies and procedures for maintaining organizational culture and transparency, including use of regularly scheduled progress meetings with supervisor, team meetings, scheduling, e-mail and other communications platforms
  • Positively represent the organization in all interactions with the public
  • Participate in organization events and perform additional tasks assigned by supervisor and/or President & CEO

Experience/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to YW Boston’s mission to promote racial, gender and social equity
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Openness to learning and willingness to give and receive feedback
  • Coursework or other experience in library science or library media studies strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with concepts and terminology related to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Project management skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Sharepoint preferred
