Description
The Generalist Librarian serves as the Reference and Adult Services Librarian. This librarian instructs and assists patrons in the use of technology and library resources and plans and implements adult programs and classes. Other responsibilities include coordinating exhibits and displays for the library’s public display spaces and performing outreach for library initiatives. The Generalist supervises adult and teen volunteers and participates in collection development and maintenance duties as well as assists at public service desks.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills
Knowledge of professional practices, procedures, and techniques of library science. Ability to deliver excellent customer service to library patrons and to work as a member of a team as well as work independently. Must possess sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
Requires a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited school. An MLS-enrolled student with previous library experience and a committed degree completion date may be considered.
Hours
Full time. 37.5 hours/week, including evenings and some Saturdays.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges $50,580 – $60,459 annually in three steps. Benefits are provided in accordance with the Town of Pembroke wage and personnel by-laws.
