Systems Librarian, Lithgow Library, Augusta ME

Responsibilities:

Utilizing the principles of librarianship, information science and computer technology, supports existing library systems and technology, introduces new and emerging formats,  applications, and services, and ensures public and staff access to information and resources in accordance with established and trending library priorities and standards.  Oversees the cataloging of all materials and formats, and supervises the Library Technical Assistant.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, with one evening shift/week, which is 11am – 8 pm, and also one Saturday/month 8 am – 12 pm.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of public library systems and operations.
  • Strong research, analytical, organizational, and communications skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in accordance with library goals.
  • Knowledge of database construction, indexing and searching techniques, network administration, and emerging technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, iOS, and Android operating systems.
  • Ability to perform routine hardware maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to effectively interact well with a diverse range of staff and the public.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  A master’s degree in Library and Information Science or candidate for MLS is preferred.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a library setting.
  • 3 or more years of technology experience with end-users and networks.

Pay Scale:

Pay range: NU 15 $23.63 to $32.21, depending on the skills and background of the candidate.
