NOBLE, the first automated resource sharing network in Massachusetts, seeks an innovative,
multitalented library professional to serve as its next Executive Director. NOBLE serves as
technology partner to its 25 member libraries through management of the open-source ILS
Evergreen, ebook and database acquisition, training, and IT assistance. Seventeen public
libraries, seven academic libraries, and one special library are members of NOBLE.
The Executive Director will excel in a multitude of diverse roles to identify and meet the needs of
its members. As chief operating officer the Executive Director is responsible for supervising
NOBLE’s professional staff, managing the budget, financial and operational planning, providing
leadership, and proposing future directions for NOBLE. The Executive Director maintains
communications with member libraries and users, serving as contact person and working with
NOBLE members through the Executive Board, Members’ Meeting and other committees. The

Salary range: $110,049 – $133,891 commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; MBA or additional applicable advanced degree a plus.
A minimum of five years’ in a leadership role in public or academic libraries, preferably in an
automated library network. The ideal candidate will demonstrate superior skills in the following
areas:
● fiscal and personnel management;
● strategic planning and innovation;
● understanding of library technology, administration, and operations;
● grant acquisition and management;
● advocacy
