The Records Coordinator is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and responding to requests for access to Advocates healthcare records.

Salary

$40,000 – $45,000

High School Diploma/GED

Responsibilities

  1. Organize and maintain health records storage to ensure requested records can be retrieved and delivered in a timely manner while maintaining regulatory and company standards to ensure record/data integrity, security, and authorized access.
  2. Enter and retrieve data with high rate of accuracy, with little-to-no errors.
  3. Process records requests & assist with the maintenance and storage of records within the Records Center, at the direction of the Director of Records.
  4. Perform clerical tasks to include, filing, copying, mailing, and curating health information.
  5. Maintain healthcare record storage that is structured and organized.
  6. Ensure all medical records & client protected health information (PHI) is kept secure at all times in accordance with HIPAA, agency & other regulatory standards.
  7. Collaborate with internal departments, including, IT, Quality Management, and Compliance to develop and implement systems for maintaining, storing, and controlling electronic file copies of deliverable and non-deliverable data.
  8. Manage appropriate retention & destruction of records. 
  9. Perform all duties in accordance with agency’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience with healthcare records strongly preferred.
  2. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  3. Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between sites.
  4. Must maintain strict confidentiality of information in accordance with HIPAA & other standards.
  5. Familiarty with electronic health records, Microsoft Office Suite, and other systems preferred. 
  6. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  7. Ability to manage projects from concept to completion independently.
  8. Ability to prioritize work, handle details accurately and follow-up with minimal supervision.
  9. Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
