Anticipated Start May 2023

The Library Assistant performs support services in one or more library functions in the library or learning resource center of a Community College which provides library services to students, faculty, staff, and citizens. These functions may include: circulation; periodicals processing; acquisitions processing; interlibrary loans; reserves; on-line copy cataloging; basic reference and readers’ advisory;
and audio-visual equipment lending. The position provides services to assist the library in its support of the College’s learning and instructional goals. The position may be required to provide coverage for the library at designated times in the absence of more senior positions. Incumbents must have a proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Anticipated Salary; $45,785 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Library Technical Science or a subject area related to library services in the academic field with up to two (2) years of related experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the
position’s essential duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two or more years of experience working in a library setting.
• Library experience working in an academic library.
• Experience providing circulation and technical services support in a
library.
• Experience providing inter-library loan services support in a library.
