The Jenez Graduate Intern is an integral member of the Office of Student Wellbeing (OSW) and the Student Support andWellbeing(SSAW)teams in the DSL. The Graduate Intern will develop and implement programs and training opportunities, advise peer support organizationsto promote student wellbeing, andassist in the development ofwellbeing communications. Through those programs and initiativesthat center wellbeing, students will be provided with opportunities to enhance their knowledge about wellbeingas individuals and within broader communities, engage in healthy decision-making,anddevelop and apply skills that promote healthy and purposeful living. These efforts will contribute to overall efforts to enhance and sustain a campus environment focused on promoting student wellbeing.
The Jenez Graduate Intern role is a one-year appointment that begins approximately August 1, 2023, through July 31, 2024, with the opportunity for a second-year renewal following a mid-semester and mid-year review.The Jenez Graduate Intern is expected to work 20 hours/week, including some after-hours and weekend events,programs, and meetings(some remote work is possible).
Compensation:
$18/hour

Duties:
Student Group Training & Advising(50%):
- Collaborate with the Wellbeing Graduate Resident Ambassador(WGRA), Assistant Director of OSW, and SSAW team to manage, support, and assess the Wellbeing Ambassador (WA) program and peer-to-peer initiatives
- In partnership with the WGRA and OSW staff, develop and implement weekly educational and reflective training content to support student development, skill-building, student-directed campus outreach, and health promotion
- Facilitate weekly WA meetings (if schedule allows) and assist in the facilitation of peer education training throughout the year
- Supervise and train the Wellbeing Ambassador Communications Team
Wellbeing Lab Co-Management (30%):
- Assist with the management of MIT’s Wellbeing Lab(opening Fall 2023), including in-person staffing, welcoming students, and serving as an on-site resource
- Develop and facilitate health and wellbeing educational and training workshops for students
Communications (15%):
- Contribute to OSW’s development, execution, and regular assessment of a communications and marketing strategy focused on promoting individual and community wellbeing
- Assist in identifying creative and effective ways to infuse and promote MIT’s pillars of wellbeing (mind, body, relationships, purpose) in communications and messaging strategies
- Assist with the preparation of regular reports, communications, and presentations for SSAW
- Participate in campus outreach efforts including but not limited to tabling events, participating inprograms, and working with campus partners
Other duties as assigned(5%)
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a graduate program (full or part-time) at an accredited institution of higher education is required. Candidates from higher education, educational leadership, student affairs, student development, health education, public health, or relevant fields are preferred
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
- Strong organizational, written and oral communication, and facilitation skills required
- Must demonstrate self-motivation, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work independently and with others, and eagerness for innovation
- Ability to work with a variety of community members, including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff
- Interest in communications and marketing is required, but former experience is not
