Description
The University of Northern Iowa’s Rod Library seeks applications for a three-year term position as Librarian for Education and Youth Services starting in August 2023. The Librarian for Education and Youth Services is an 11 month appointment and reports to the Associate University Librarian for Learning and Research.
Rod Library is enhancing its support for teacher preparation programs via the innovative Teacher Education and Collaboration Hub (TEACH) project, which will combine the Instructional Resources and Technology Services (IRTS) Collection and Youth Collection and create a hub for teacher preparation and classroom experimentation. The Librarian for Education and Youth Services supports the planning and work of the TEACH Project by building and maintaining collections that support the needs of those studying and researching in disciplines related to teacher education and youth literature; providing liaison services including research consultations, information literacy instruction, research project support, scholarly communication, and other academic outreach to all departments in the College of Education and all disciplines that use and interact with youth literature; and working collaboratively with IRTS and Youth Staff to enact the vision of the TEACH project which includes supporting individuals who work with teachers and teacher librarians throughout the state of Iowa through activities such as Area Education Agencies (AEAs) professional development, book talks, consultation on book challenges, support of the African American Read-In, etc.

Qualifications
ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library or information science or international equivalent required. Required qualifications also include interest in and commitment to teaching and library instruction; willingness and ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with coworkers and campus community; excellent oral and written communication skills; interest in working collaboratively across disciplines; and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Desirable qualifications include coursework or professional work experience in education or children’s/youth literature.
