Law Library Assistant, Massachusetts Trial Court Law Libraries (Dedham), MA

Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Head Law Librarian, the Contract Employee will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Norfolk Law Library, including cataloging, book processing, loose-leaf filing, bill processing, research, and reference.  The position is funded through June 30, 2023, and can be full (37.5 hours/week) or part-time (minimum 15 hours/week).

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or law-related certificate (such as a Paralegal certificate), one to two years of legal or library experience, or enrolled in an MLIS program.
  • Knowledge of library procedures, interlibrary cooperation, and the types of resources and services available to librarians and library users is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of personal computers and software programs, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, bend, climb, crouch, and lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and report information.
  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with judges, court personnel, and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently.
