The Whipple Free Library is seeking a new circulation assistant to join our team. We are seeking someone who enjoys working with the public, is passionate about libraries, dependable, and has a great sense of humor.   

The circulation assistant will be responsible for delivery of friendly, high-quality public service in a public library setting. Performs routine tasks associated with the operations of the Whipple Free Library. This position involves working with the public and maintaining confidentiality. The primary responsibilities are checking in and out library materials, registering new patrons, answering phones, and assisting the public with library related services. This position also includes opening and closing the library.  One evening a week and Saturdays in rotation are required.

Title

Circulation Assistant Part-time (9-11 hours per week)

Duties and Responsibility

·         Generating reserve reports and locating materials and checking-out of library materials on our Apollo ILS system

·         Generating reserve reports and locating materials

·         Registering new patrons and updating patron records for existing patrons

·         Answering phones quickly and professionally 

·         Maintaining the appearance of the library

·         Using Google Calendar to book meeting rooms 

·         Overseeing the opening and closing of the library

·         Assisting patrons with the library computers, copier, faxing, e-readers, and other library related technology

·         Other circulation desk tasks as required

Minimum Qualification

Demonstrated interest in libraries or related customer service work. 1-3 years of customer service experience. Previous library experience preferred. High School Diploma or GED. Strong computer skills, both PC and Mac. Must be a team player and willing to collaborate. Social media experience.  Strong attention to detail.
