The Bangor Public Library is one of the largest public libraries in the state, serving as an Area Reference and Resource Center for northern and eastern Maine. As the third-largest city in Maine, the City of Bangor is a service center for people living in more rural communities in northern and eastern Maine, and the library serves people with diverse experiences and needs.
Statement of the Position: The Head of the Circulation Department oversees the first department that most people see on their way into the library and the last department many people interact with as they leave. The department manages the physical materials in the library’s adult collections, including check-in and check-out, interlibrary loan, reshelving, and stacks maintenance. The department also manages the patron accounts of all adult library card holders. This position also oversees the selection and deselection of all adult fiction materials.
The department head leads a dynamic team of 8 staff (7.0 FTE) and serves on a leadership team that works with the director to provide vision and leadership for the institution. This position also includes direct service to the public.
This position’s salary band runs from $50,739 to $67,996.50.
