Description:
Responsible for managing the Library Services Department, which also oversees Research Services operations, cataloging (two-dimensional collections), library programs, and outreach. The Library Services Department Team serves researchers who access the print, manuscript, and State Archives collections through the libraries’ Research Rooms, email, and mail. The department provides digital copies of Death Certificates and other collections for a fee. The department also provides programming on various research topics. The supervisor evaluates and recommends updates to processes, products, and new opportunities.
Salary: $62,400-$72,800/year

Duties:
- Supervise, manage and evaluate the staff of the Library Services Department and Research Room to accomplish goals and objectives that align with the organization’s strategic initiatives
- develop and implement policies and procedures regarding access, care, and management of archival materials
- Perform all administrative functions for the Library Services Department, including department budget management, performance assessments, staff coaching and development, and overall department project management
- Work with other Cultural Resources and Libraries department managers to help the division director set direction, strategy, and tactics for the entire division
- Work with department staff to offer programs related to research, genealogy, and other related topics
- Lead grant applications and grant management
- Lead collecting and deselection of print materials in conjunction with cataloging and acquisition staff
- Maintain vendor relationships in conjunction with Digital Services
- Work with Collection Management regarding storage and the accessibility of collections
- Provide reference and research assistance to patrons and researchers
- Collaborate with peers regarding the care, preservation, and access to archival materials of collections
- Assist with the development of exhibitions and public programming related to the archives
- Support digitization requests and online access to archival materials
- Work with site management partners on collections guidance, issues, or questions
- Provide research and resources for media requests through the Marketing and Communications team
- Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and products to support department and OHC goals for access and use
- Promote the use of the archives via presentations offerings, hosting workshops, and leading tours
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Library Information Science or equivalent work experience preferred
- Proven experience as a department manager, managing people, projects, and operations or similar roles
- Experience with collections management software such as Worldshare and ArchivesSpace
- Experience managing projects, including planning, setting timelines, and completing deliverables
- Knowledge of cataloging standards and vocabulary
- Ability to foster a positive work environment with a foundation of best leadership practices through effective communication, and a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
- Ability to review potential deaccessions and acquisitions and make a professional recommendation regarding disposition
- Proven track record of public engagement
- Advocate for the Library Services staff and research services within and outside of the organization
- Serve as a liaison between the Library Services Department and other departments and divisions across the organization
- Develop innovative programs and strategies to promote the collections
- Ability to delegate work appropriately
