Job Summary
The technology integration librarian is an innovative and enthusiastic librarian who leads systems and technology integration projects. This position supports the administration of Drexel University Libraries (DUL) systems to optimize processes and workflows for efficient management of Drexel library services, research output, academic content, and unique digital collections. The librarian proactively reviews and assesses both existing and emerging technologies and their potential to meet DUL program needs, leading program managers in implementation planning. The librarian provides strong project management leadership combined with an understanding of library applications and workflows in a collaborative, team-based environment.
The Libraries operates as a cost-effective, evidence-based, customer-centered organization with a commitment to continuous quality improvement and a supportive culture of diversity, equity and inclusiveness. Reporting to the Manager, Library Integrated Technology Systems, the librarian may represent the Libraries in university activities and initiatives and contributes to the library and information profession through service, presentation or publication activities. DUL librarians also provide their disciplinary subject expertise to support the matrixed programs of Curricula Support, Information Assistance and Scholarly Connections initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Identify and implement new features and enhancements of library products to maximize DUL’s ROI
- Support Shibboleth and EZproxy and trouble-shoot complex online resources access issues. Work collaboratively with University partners on systems, network, security, and authentication issues
- Evaluate and customize vendor products and develop local applications as required
- Ensure adherence of systems to technical, quality assurance, data integrity, and security standards and document solutions and workflows
- Implement technology projects and/or workflows, including integrations with external systems; Lead and/or participate in potential system migrations
- Proactively contribute to strengthening the Libraries’ culture of diversity, equity and inclusiveness
Qualifications
Required
- Master’s Degree or Equivalent in library and/or information Science or related and 2 years’ experience
- Demonstrated ability in technology and/or software project management
- Organizational skills and ability to lead multiple concurrent projects
- Strong technical background and experience in library software administration, metadata manipulation, system integration, and authentication
- Ability to engage in self-directed learning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrated success and leadership skills in working effectively independently and within teams
- Evidence of flexibility and initiative working within a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and welcoming work environment in both physical and cyber space
Preferred
- Experience in academic, library, or archives environment
- Experience in training and supporting technology applications
- Experience with Ex Libris and Springshare products
- Experience using Excel, XML, XSLT, and JSON
