Research Services intern (full-time, paid), Fidelity Investments, Boston, MA

The Role

This full-time, paid internship provides valuable experiential learning opportunities to build the many skills that are foundational for a career in library services. The internship is 10 weeks beginning June 5, 2023 and ending August 11, 2023. Approximately 25% to 50% of time will be in our office in downtown Boston, MA.

Responsibilities of the Research Services intern may include:

  • Assisting research librarians with “off-the-shelf” investment research project files by sourcing information from the Investment Research Library collection, updating datasets, and maintaining resource guides.
  • Assisting with the day-to-day functions of the Investment Research Library such as checking in new materials, claiming missing items, and maintaining catalog records.
  • Initiating and undertaking key content and collection projects such as collection upkeep, cataloging, organization, and library outreach. 
  • Opportunity to collaborate with research librarians and work on investment research requests.

Additionally, this person will perform other duties and responsibilities based on interests and needs of the Information Services team. The internship also provides opportunities to meet librarians in other Fidelity teams and job functions to learn about various career paths.

The Experience and Skills You Bring

  • Currently working toward a graduate degree in Library Science or Library and Information Studies (MLS/MLIS) with an expected graduation date no sooner than August 2023.
  • Attention to detail, effective time management and strong communication skills required.
  • Must possess an ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and work independently.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel preferred and other Microsoft Office suite products a plus.

The Team

Research Services supports Asset Management investment professionals by managing content, providing research support, and managing vendor relationships. The Research Services intern will support the Information Services team within Research Services.
