Children’s Librarian, Plainville Public Library (Plainville)

The Plainville Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic Children’s Librarian who will deliver the utmost customer service for children ages 0-13 and their caregivers.  This position will be responsible for the coordination of all services, materials, programs and outreach related to children’s library service to our community. Successful candidates will have enthusiasm for reading; skill in operating current technologies, and excellent customer service and communication skills. 

We are looking for someone to join our team who has considerable knowledge of professional library principals, methods, materials and practices specifically relating to children’s services; the ability to deal with public in a courteous and efficient manner with strong customer service;  and the ability to plan and coordinate programs, activities and displays at the library. You should be effective in maintaining working relationships with a variety of professional and community groups and the general public with the ability to prioritize duties and multitask with attention to detail and have demonstrated ability to use computers/devices with emphasis on use of library network, internet, social media, digital resources and eBooks.

Qualifications

Experience in professional library work, specifically relating to the field of children’s services, with an MLS from an ALA accredited library school, pursuing an MLS degree or have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with experience in children’s services

$20.79 – $21.25  / hour
