Columbia University Libraries seeks a dynamic and engaged leader to serve as the Director of Digital Scholarship Services.  The Director of Digital Scholarship Services is charged with envisioning,  planning, and implementing a strategic digital scholarship program for the Columbia University Libraries. The Director will lead a creative and innovative team of library staff in developing impactful services, projects, and partnerships that drive the scholarship and teaching of the university.  This mandate includes cultivating the department’s strategy of support and engagement for university research, publishing, and digital projects, and digital and data literacies in alignment with the values of the libraries, the university’s mission, and the Columbia “fourth purpose.” 

The Digital Scholarship Services unit, including Scholarly Communications and Research Data Services, forges key alliances with researchers and scholars, educators, and administrators across the university, provides instruction and guidance to students across disciplines, and preserves and amplifies the creative and scholarly output of the university.   The Director is crucial in building external relationships with other Columbia university units such as  Columbia Research, the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Columbia University Information Technology, and Columbia University Press. The Director also maintains relationships with other library units, helping to shape and support the libraries’ identified projects and priorities.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Research and Learning, the Director, Digital Scholarship is a critical member of the Research and Learning leadership team and the Libraries’ Leadership Council.
