POSITION TYPE: This is a full-time two-year position, with a possibility of extension.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To support the instructional, research, and public service functions of the University. This position focuses on organizing, processing, preserving, and facilitating the use of the William S. Cohen Papers. The work entails promoting awareness of and use of the collection through exhibits and programming, as well as assisting the Special Collections Department to provide public access to the collection.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collection development, preservation, and management
Oversees preservation of the Archives, including the re-housing of materials, preservation photocopying of fragile documents, and the reformatting of audiovisual materials for preservation and public use.
Prepares series-level descriptions for unprocessed records, using the existing organizational framework for the Archives. Oversees the preparation of folder lists and item lists. Archival descriptions are prepared in accordance with current professional standards using ArchivesSpace.
Makes revisions to existing descriptions in order to achieve coherence and to enable output to of the descriptions from ArchivesSpace to PDF.
Access and Public Service
Updates and maintains the online presence of the collection.
Oversees the maintenance and dissemination of the Cohen Archives finding aids.
Provides reference service for on-site and off-site Archives users.
Responds to requests for information about the Archives.
Prepares online exhibits that showcase materials in the Archives. Promotes the Archives in educational settings and the local and regional media.
Supports programming, such as lectures, conferences, and panel discussions around issues that are documented in the papers.
Supervision
Supervises and evaluates student employees, volunteers, and interns.
Hires student employees and participates in selection of classified personnel.
Facilitates communication with library colleagues through staff meetings, emails, and reports of activities.
Salary Range: $55,510 – $58,144
