Library Manager/Archival Collections Manager, The Center for Puerto Rican Studies (Centro), (NYC)

Description

The Center for Puerto Rican Studies (Centro) is a research center dedicated to the study and interpretation of the Puerto Rican experience in the United States. Centro is the primary repository of archival and library materials dedicated to stateside Puerto Ricans. Centro is committed to facilitating research projects useful to those in community organizations, public policy, and academia.  Reporting to the Library Archives Officer and Chief Librarian, specifically, duties include: 

• Oversee the development and management of Centro’s physical archival holdings and repository spaces.

• Develop relationships with perspective donors, assess potential collections for donation and coordinate the acquisition of new collections and additional accretions to existing collections.

• Guide the arrangement and description of collections according to local and national standards (DACS and EAD), including maintaining processing guidelines, setting priorities for processing, editing and publishing finding aids.

• Manage processing archivists and other archival support staff.

• Collaborate with the Digital Archivist and Library Manager to provide use of and access to the archival holdings as well as developing and revising policies and procedures for the Library and Archives.

• Provide leadership and promote innovation in the management, access and storage of archival holdings.

• Actively contribute to the development of organizational and staff capability and contribute to broader information management work within Centro, Hunter College and CUNY and participation in relevant professional organizations.

• Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned.
