Description:
The Nevins Library located in Methuen, MA is seeking an energetic, flexible, and enthusiastic person who enjoys working with youth (ages 0-18) and their adult caregivers in the Youth Services Department. The Library serves a diverse population of approximately, 50,000 in a NH border community.
This person will assist the team with planning and presenting preschool and school-aged programs, reference and reader’s advisory tasks, as well as help maintain a neat, inviting public space.
This part-time position (20-28 hours) will include day and evening shifts, as well as rotating Saturdays.
Hours: 20-28 hours per week
Minimum Education: Associates Degree required.
Salary: $17.50-$20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and education.
Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year experience working with preschool and/or elementary children in a library or school setting.
- Able to work with a diverse population, while respecting people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Committed to excellent customer service, with the ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a busy environment.
- Familiarity with working in a technology-oriented environment.
- Strong teamwork, excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in a second language (especially Spanish) is preferred.
