Ethnic Studies Librarian, California State University LA, Los Angeles, California

Description:

The Ethnic Studies Librarian serves as the library faculty liaison to the newly established—and second in the United States—College of Ethnic Studies which includes the departments of Asian and Asian American Studies; Chicana(o) and Latina(o) Studies; and Pan-African Studies, plus a forthcoming American Indian and Indigenous Studies department. Primary liaison responsibilities include providing research help and consultation, information literacy instruction, and establishing and maintaining effective communication and engagement with students, faculty, and staff in the College of Ethnic Studies. Primary professional responsibilities also include research, scholarship, and/or creative activities, and service to the University, profession, and community. The Ethnic Studies Librarian may also provide liaison duties to additional departments whose curriculum aligns with and/or supports the College of Ethnic Studies. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for a librarian working with the College of Ethnic Studies to support students and faculty in innovative ways that support the implementation of the CSU statewide Ethnic Studies requirement outlined in Assembly Bill 1460 (AB 1460). This would include working collaboratively with faculty in the College of Ethnic Studies and the library’s collection strategies committee to further develop existing collections in Ethnic Studies and relevant disciplines.
