Associate Head of Digital Collections Discovery, Harvard, MA

Description:
- Lead and participate in library-wide project teams related to the discovery of and access to digital collections.
- Lead user engagement and outreach projects related to digital collections and online exhibits.
- Provide guidance on collections projects with partner institutions included, but not limited to metadata sharing/aggregation, mass digitization, and collections sharing.
- Manage the Library Analyst for Stewardship of Digital Assets and Library Analyst for Collections Discovery.
- Establish and implement best practices for collections discovery and use across the research lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the copyright officer to provide leadership on copyright and the application of standardized rights statements, as they apply to digital collections discovery.
- Design model and custom workflows to meet project and programmatic goals in partnership with key stakeholders across Harvard Library.
- Develop online content and in-person presentations to promote and demonstrate services.
- Create service documentation and project reports.
- Contributes to the overall goals of the department as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in planning and managing projects involving collections access and discovery, including the ability to maintain priorities across multiple projects.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing direct reports and peer teams.
- Excellent presentation & communication skills.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Masters Degree in Library Science and/or Information Science or Archival training preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and antiracism.
- Demonstrated success in communicating with members of the academic community.
- Proven knowledge of management and familiarity with issues related to access and discovery of collection.
- Demonstrated knowledge of metadata standards and file formats.
- Knowledge of best practices for usability of collections.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and requirements.
- Experience with collections management software and user interfaces.
- Knowledge of Harvard Library technical infrastructure for collections discovery.
- Demonstrated skills in being highly collaborative and user focused.
- Willingness to continue to develop professionally through training, participation in conferences, and other activities.
