Seasonal Land Records and Plans Assistant, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Boston, MA

Description

  • Addressing a backlog of real estate records that are not catalogued.  
  • Entering data into DCR’s Land Records database from legacy paper indexes  
  • Cataloging land acquisition project files housed in physical folders.  
  • Organizing and culling land records to reduce overall physical footprint of paper records.  
  • Identifying and labeling records located within DCR’s Land Protection files and Plans collections and removing duplicates.  
  • Boxing and listing basic metadata for each project file or plan so the scanning vendor can accurately digitize DCR’s records.   
  • Assisting in development of a new database to track pre-acquisition activities of Parks and Watershed Land Protection Programs, and other database projects as needed.  
  • Organizing, foldering, and indexing large-format plans from the Land Protection office and the Plans Library in preparation for scanning 
  • Working cooperatively with Land Acquisition and Protection Staff, Plans Library Staff & GIS Staff on a variety of projects as needed.   
  • Other related duties as required.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding and knowledge of real estate transactions and associated property records. 
  • Ability to understand and read maps, plans, and surveys. 
  • Familiarity and experience with GIS.  
  • Proficiency in ESRI products specifically ArcGIS Online.  
  • Ability to update existing GIS data layers. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: 

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. 

Substitutions: 

I. A Bachelor’s or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.* 

II. A Bachelor’s or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.* 

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:  Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License may be required.
