Position Title: Temporary Children’s Supervisor Librarian
Education: MLS/Masters preferred
Library: Turner Free Library, Randolph, MA
Start: October 2022
End: January 2023
Number of Hours per Week: 19
Salary Range: $32/hour
Schedule: Flexible, but will include Tuesday/Thursday mornings and Wednesday evenings
Position Duties:
- Plans, carries out and supervises all library programming for children ages 0-12 and their caregivers, including but not limited to: Family Storytime (Tuesday mornings), PJ Storytime (Wednesday evenings), and Baby Lapsit (Thursday mornings) in coordination with the Junior Circulation Chief.
- Provides circulation desk coverage as needed.
- Provides staff supervision in the evenings.
- Provides exemplary customer service; routinely addressing complaints and effectively resolving complications.
- Provides occasional readers advisory and reference services as needed.
- Responsible for assisting patrons and staff with technology instruction as well as managing and maintaining current technology in the department.
- Maintains accurate program attendance records and reports statistics to the Library Director or, in their absence, to the Director of Library, Recreation, and Community Programs
Qualifications:
Candidates should be proficient to advanced in the use of common office applications and digital library resources (i.e. Libby, Hoopla, Kanopy, Mango Languages, NoveList, etc). Familiarity with SirsiDynix’s Symphony Workflows
Work is performed under typical public library conditions, but there is some moderate to heavy lifting of books and other materials.
MLIS/Master’s preferred but not required. Current MLIS Students encouraged to apply.
