Manages and supervises the technical and access services for the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Libraries. This position is responsible for the following operations: Circulation, Reserves, Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery, Cataloging, and book/serial/thesis/dissertation processing. Assists with the Institutional Repository by providing metadata and records management. Supervises the circulation supervisor and interlibrary loan/document delivery specialist. Position serves as the interpreter of library policies, primary cataloger and provides expertise and training on all modules of the library information system (ILS) that is managed by the Fenway Library Organization. As a small unit, the technical and access services librarian is a hands-on position and will assist in the day-to-day operations for all related services, as needed. This is a non-teaching faculty position with the rank of Faculty Associate, or the equivalent.
• Manages and supervises the technical and access services for the MCPHS Libraries
• Supervises all staff in these areas of operation
• Serves as primary cataloger
• Proves metadata and records management for the Institutional Repository
• Provides expertise and training on all modules of the library information system (ILS)
• Interpret library policies and procedures for staff and the MCPHS community
• Serve on local and regional committees related to technical and access services
• Participate in library-wide projects, meetings and committees, strategic planning and other activities
• Supports incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities.
• Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
• Masters in Library Sciences, or the equivalent
• Minimum of two years of work experience in an academic library
• Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
• Familiarity with library information systems and interlibrary loan are preferred
• Cataloging experience is required
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels of the university community
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
