Youth Services Librarian, Turner Free Library, Randolph, MA

End date: January 13, 2023

Schedule: 35 hours per week
Mondays, 9am – 5pm
Tuesdays, 10am – 7pm
Wednesdays, 12 – 8pm
Thursdays, 10am – 7pm
Fridays, 9am – 5pm

Pay Rate: $20.75 – $24.00 per hour, depending on experience
CORI: REQUIRED

Duties:

  • Plans, carries out, and supervises all library programming for children ages 0-12 and their caregivers, including but not limited to: Family Storytime (Tuesday mornings), PJ Storytime (Wednesday evenings), and Baby Lapsit (Thursday mornings) in coordination with the Junior Circulation Chief.
  • In coordination with the Young Adult Librarian, supervises a busy Teen Room during after school hours (1-5pm) and provides exemplary service to teens from seventh grade through high school from a large array of national, lingual, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Provides circulation desk coverage as needed.
  • Provides staff supervision in the evenings.
  • Provides exemplary customer service; routinely addressing complaints and effectively resolving complications.
  • Provides occasional readers advisory and reference services as needed.
  • Responsible for assisting patrons and staff with technology instruction as well as managing and maintaining current technology in the department.
  • Maintains accurate program attendance records and reports statistics to the Library Director or, in their absence, to the Director of Library, Recreation, and Community Programs.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Library & Information Science
  • 1 year minimum of experience post-MLIS degree
  • Proficient to advanced in the use of SirsiDynix’s Symphony Workflows, common office applications, and digital library resources (i.e. Libby, Hoopla, Kanopy, Mango Languages, NoveList, etc).
