Department Head – Circulation Library, George H. & Ella M. Rodgers Memorial Library, Hudson, NH

George H. & Ella M. Rodgers Memorial Library in Hudson, NH, a member of GMILCS (The Greater Manchester InterLibrary Consortial System), is seeking an energetic and customer service-oriented individual to become our full time Circulation Librarian. This position reports directly to the Library Director and is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the proper function of the circulation department on a daily basis, including overseeing the work of one full-time assistant librarian and several part-time library assistants. This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week.

In This Role You Will:      

·         Train new staff and communicate regularly with circulation staff regarding changes in policy, procedures and practice.

·         Participate in circulation staff evaluations.

·         Participate in material selection and collection management for Adult Services.

·         Collect statistics and prepare monthly reports.

·         Represent RML in the CIRC/ILL group – an official group of GMILCS.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

You Will Need To Be

·         Friendly and outgoing; able to work with patrons and coworkers.

·         Able to work with minimal direct supervision.

·         Proficient in the use of Integrated Library Systems (ILS).

You Will Need To Have

·         An ALA/ Masters of Library Information Science degree is preferred. Will consider a bachelor’s degree equivalent OR extensive para-librarian experience in Circulation.

·         Some knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.

·         Extensive, proven customer service experience.

·         Strong communication, writing and speaking skills.

·         Starting salary range of $41,600 to $45,760 based on experience.

Schedule: Must be able to work evenings, Saturdays (9-1) and Sundays (1-5) as part of the regular rotation.
