Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Education and Research Librarian. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, this position will provide vision and direction for Western’s library instructional and reference services, including the development, planning, implementation, and support of the information literacy and online learning programs.Duties

The Education and Research Librarian will have the opportunity to

  1. Lead and participate in the design, delivery, and assessment of information literacy instruction to liberal arts students; assist in the development and support of online learning.
  2. Explore innovative teaching methods and technologies to advance and expand the information literacy program. 
  3. Provide reference service and research assistance to students and faculty through in-person consultations, chat, email and more.
  4. Participate in the evaluation, selection and deselection of print, media and digital resources for a diverse student population.
  5. Promote awareness of library resources and the library as a partner in facilitating student success; promote equity and inclusion through outreach and campus relationship building.
  6. Serve on University committees and participate in professional development activities. As a non-tenure track position, scholarly work is not required.

Minimum Qualifications: Required are an ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS; experience in reference and instruction, preferably in an undergraduate library setting; excellent communication skills; and ability to work in a service-oriented, collaborative, collegial, team-based environment, with the ability to work independently at times.

Preferred Qualifications:  Knowledge of and familiarity with ACRL standards; instructional design certification or experience; experience with emerging technologies and/or social networking software as they apply to enhancing library services; and evidence of initiative and innovation in library services.
