Collection Services Assistant, Harvard University Archives, Cambridge, MA

Description:

The Harvard University Archives seeks to hire a Collections Services Assistant to work on archival processing projects and cataloging, including enhancement and creation of finding aids and bibliographic records for archival collections and publications. Tasks include the creation of finding aids in ArchivesSpace and MARC bibliographic records, and the preparation of collections for storage.

Potential assignments, depending on experience:

·         Processing selected series in the records of the Harvard College Observatory

·         Copy cataloging and templated original cataloging of published works

·         Describing/cataloging and rehousing small legacy collections, including department publications and visual materials (HUE, HUF, HUV 2XXX)

·         Describing/cataloging and rehousing recent accessions of University ephemera

Qualifications

Required skills:

·         Familiarity with archival and bibliographic description.

·         Familiarity with ArchivesSpace and Alma preferred.

·         Experience or interest in college and university archives preferred.
