Description:
Perform diversified library duties to ensure the successful daily operations of Dinand Library by managing all print reserve materials, managing student workers, overseeing borrowing functions, stacks maintenance duties, and serving as an informational source for students, faculty, and patrons.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage all print Reserves – Process efficiently and in a timely manner (enters & maintains reserve bibliographic records in our online library system) library materials requested by faculty for required reading. Determine best method and organization of reserve materials, so that materials are retrieved as quickly as possible. Work with Acquisitions for non-College owned materials requested. Materials returned to stacks/faculty when removed from reserves at end of each semester; update catalog record.
- Manage student workers – responsibilities include hiring, supervising, scheduling, training, processing weekly student payroll, maintaining communication, enforcing discipline, and evaluating/recommending all Dinand Student workers (areas of coverage include Circulation & Reserves and Stacks maintenance.) Liaise with registrar’s and bursar’s offices regarding changes of the student status. Maintain accurate student attendance records and ensures student payroll is complete, accurate and on time.
- Responsible for the daily operations of the library including: Efficient checking out & in of materials via automated circulation system. Ensure building is opened on time and all library facilities are prepared for patron use. Makes sure that policies are enforced fairly. Makes sure cross-borrowing functions are performed to the satisfaction of all consortium libraries.
- Provide courteous informational assistance, in person and over the telephone, to patrons. Patrons’ questions are answered fully or referred to reference staff. Facilitate the flow of information to appropriate staff. Perform other similar duties as required or requested by supervisor.
- Main point of contact for the circulation of OME’s Bishop Healy Lending Library Collection
- Participate in professional organizations for continued professional growth/development. Keeps current in regard to library information especially circulation, reserves, & stacks happenings via discussion lists and professional publications. Act as liaison between Evening /Weekend Supervisors, and the Head of Access & Discovery Services.
Library office hours – 7:30am-4:30pm
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirements:
- Demonstrated excellent customer service ethic (3-5 years)
- Fluency with Google Suite for document and spreadsheet management
- Experience in a library environment; or, supervisory experience in any field (3-5 years)
- Ability to take direction; high comfort level with suggesting improvements to workflow and procedures; ability to participate in strategic planning for the libraries
- Ability to work some evening or weekend hours, if required
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in an academic library
- Experience with library circulation software and hardware
- Experience with managing student workers and/or staff
