General Statement of Duties: The main purpose of the position is to provide professional library services to Roxbury Community College students, faculty, and to provide archival services to the college and archival researchers. This position is responsible for assisting in operating the library by providing circulation and reference services, cataloging, developing and teaching general and subject specific bibliographic instruction sessions, developing library collections, assisting researchers in the use of print and electronic resources, and managing RCC’s Archives & Special Collections.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Director of Library

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a wide range of reference services to students, faculty, administration, and the public.
- Serve as subject liaison to assigned academic departments and engage with faculty in person, by email, and through library programming.
- Responsible for collection development, including de-accessioning, in assigned subject areas.
- Teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced library instruction courses to students, in coordination with full and adjunct faculty.
- Develop and teach drop-in workshops on a range of topics.
- Use LibGuides to create class and subject-specific research guides for the library website.
- Responsible for all aspects of the College Archives and Special Collections, including appraisal, arrangement and description, reference, outreach, donor relations, and digitization.
- Catalog all library materials.
- Provide circulation assistance to library users.
- Supervise library work-study/ Intern students.
- Track selected statistics and prepare detailed monthly and annual reports.
- Serve on college committees as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- ALA ACCREDITED Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science.
- 3 years professional experience in the areas of library public service, reference, online database, Internet searching and archiving. Experience in a community college desirable or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of MARC records.
- Strong customer service orientation. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work with adult, multicultural and multilingual student population required.
- Knowledge of archival concepts, methodology and techniques.
- Knowledge of the historical contexts governing archival operations.
- Professional experience in developing online archival indices, bibliographies and other reference guides and materials
