Description:
Duties & responsibilities:
- Creates, edits, inputs, reviews and updates bibliographic records in online integrated library database (Voyager); interprets and verifies bibliographic records or other data. Generates reports as needed. Responsible for copy and original cataloging.
- Oversees and coordinates circulation processes, procedures, and access. Oversees physical processing and shelving of all library materials; performs holdings inventories. Maintains periodicals collection; monitors gifts, exchanges, and subscriptions. Conducts purchasing and submits financial reports.
- Oversees ASM Library and Archives reading room. Ensures that proper procedures are followed to open and close library. Provides reference service for users; assists library users in accessing collection based on knowledge of and familiarity with the content of the collection and related resources. Assists library users in utilizing a variety of automated and printed sources.
- Trains, monitors and evaluates performance of student employees and library/archives volunteers. Assumes responsibility of the library in the absence of library colleagues.
- Responsible for coordinating bi-annual library benefit sale in conjunction with the Arizona Archaeological and Historical Society (AAHS).
- Responsible for coordinating with AAHS volunteers and assisting with logistics during event and year-round to work with a large volume of books in heavy boxes. Must be able to move/transport up to 40 lbs regularly.
- Additional duties may be assigned.

- Knowledge of archival work
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks and functions
- Great customer service to library patrons and researchers
- Excellent organizational skills
- Interest in learning new technologies
- Good computer skills including working with spreadsheets and databases
- Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems and working with library catalog records
- Ability carefully handle delicate materials and lift and move heavy boxed collections
- Ability to work with scanning equipment
- Creative problem solving
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in libraries, archives, or museums is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science
- Background in Anthropology
- Experience working with Native American materials in a library, museum or archives setting
- Experience with digital collections or digital projects and platforms
