The Weymouth Public Libraries is in need of a proven professional and self-starting librarian interested in being a key member of a progressive, dynamic library system.  We seek an outgoing, innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented librarian to provide technology instruction and reference services. Our culture of “Yes!” has resulted in a large growth in programs and services for grateful and increasingly engaged library patrons and local decision makers.

We are fortunate to be in a state-of-the-art new building. Opened in the fall of 2020, the new Tufts Library is the flagship library of the Weymouth Public Libraries. The new 50,000-square-foot library includes five meeting rooms, ten study rooms, a digital media lab, local history center, teen room, quiet room, library programming rooms, and an outdoor amphitheater. Partially funded by a Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program grant, the $33 million library embraces innovation while honoring Weymouth’s storied past.

This position works under the general supervision of the Head of Reference & Adult Services and in collaboration with the Technology Services Librarian.

Duties of this position include: Develops and teaches skill-based technology classes to groups of patrons, as well as provides one-on-one technology support. Provides staff and public with support for computers, software, and associated technology. Works with staff to develop technology competencies and creates and delivers staff training as needed. Responsible for providing reference services to the general public as assigned. Executes library marketing campaigns from beginning to end for adult programs and services, including creating graphic images and text copy for digital and print, managing library social media accounts, and disseminating information to appropriate channels and partners.

This is a full-time (35 hours/week) position. Tufts Library is open on Saturdays from Labor Day through Memorial Day. When the library is open on Saturdays, this position works every third Saturday, with the following Friday off.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in library and information sciences from an ALA-accredited school required. Experience with library instruction, integrated library systems, hardware, software, emerging technologies, website design, and mobile services preferred.

Starting salary: $44,515.28/year.
