Temporary Library OER Assistant (part-time), Middlesex Community College, Middlesex, MA

Description:
The Library OER Assistant will advance the Open Educational Resources (OER) work at Middlesex Community College by assisting with the ZTC-degrees project, developing best practices, planning outreach, and assisting with building assessment of OER implementation. The Library OER Assistant will also assist the College librarians in library coverage in the Bedford Library. The Library OER Assistant will work with a diverse community of users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review degree pathways and course offerings to determine ZTC-degrees
- Assist with course markings form and processing
- Work with librarians to further develop metrics and evaluation tools for assessing the effectiveness of OER adoption
- Directly support librarians by researching available OER materials based on faculty requests who are looking to adopt/adapt courses to OER
- Assist with providing a welcoming and helpful first contact to students, faculty, and staff entering the library
- Offers assistance in directing those needing information to proper staff person in the library or elsewhere on campus
- Serves as a backup for library staff in their absence
- Performs other related duties, as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or two years of full-time or part-time, experience as a library assistant, or an equivalent combination of required experience and education
- Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or completed a graduate program in Library Science or Education
- Coursework or professional experience in Open Educational Resources, developing procedures and guidelines, assessment and/or with copyright and creative commons licensing
Salary Range: $23.75 per hour in accordance with MCC Part-Time Wage Schedule
Location: Primarily MCC’s Bedford Campus with occasional travel to Lowell Campus when needed
Hours: Based on available grant funding for this role, the College has approximately 336 available hours for this role; specific schedule will be determined at the time of hire
Expected start date: May 2022
