The Winthrop Group has an immediate opening for a Processing Archivist to process archival records at The National Theatre in Washington, D.C. Work will take place on-site at The National Theatre and the archivist will report to and be supported by a Senior Archivist. Winthrop is open to receiving applications from candidates who are interested in either a 5-month full-time position or 9-month part-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Survey collections and develop a prioritized processing plan
- Process selected records and write finding aids
- Weed duplicate or non-archival material
- Identify records that may be candidates for future digitization
- Monitor progress to ensure timely and efficient processing
- Provide regular updates to client liaison
- Work collaboratively with National Theatre staff and Winthrop Senior Archivist
Required Qualifications
- MLIS or MA in history with archival management certificate and/or experience
- Minimum of two years of work in an archival setting with processing experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity working with institutional records
- Records management experience
- Interest and/or experience in theatre
Compensation
- Full-time: competitive salary based on experience and qualifications with strong benefits package including professional development funds
- Part-time: competitive hourly rate
Work Environment
Work will take place on-site at The National Theatre in Washington, D.C. Winthrop archivists must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster and abide by all client policies and public health guidelines relating to the pandemic.
