Are you an archives or cultural heritage informatics track student who would like to gain museum experience and bolster your CV? The Donald Blair Research Center Archives and the Edwin Smith Historical Museum at the Westfield Athenaeum would like to invite you to apply for an unpaid internship during Summer 2022.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the archivist, you will process the artifact collections in the archives at the Donald Blair Research Center and Edwin Smith Historical Museum with the goal of creating and enhancing accession records and identifying opportunities for and completing research on said artifacts. You must have meticulous attention to detail, advanced organizational skills, and be proficient in and willing to expand your skills in cataloging, research, and processing collections.
This internship is eligible for LIS 512: Advanced Field Experience in LIS. For questions about course eligibility, please contact Prof. Sarah Pratt Martin ([email protected]). However, enrollment in LIS 512 is not required to be considered for this internship.
Qualifications:
Courses required for this internship include:
- Archives/CHI: LIS 432 or LIS 438
- Advanced Cataloging/Metadata: LIS 445 or LIS 446 or LIS 416
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
