The Wolbach Library at the Center for Astrophysics (CfA) seeks to hire four Digital Project Assistants. Reporting to the CfA’s Assistant Head Librarian, successful applicants will undertake digital forensics tasks to map the digital ecosystem associated with a legacy big data project. These positions are Less-than-Half Time appointments with flexible schedules funded by the Harvard College Observatory at $20/hour through June 30, 2022 with the possibility of extension.
The Digital Project Assistants will be responsible for:
- Creating an annotated inventory of digital objects
- Defining semantic relationships between digital objects
- Gathering descriptive, administrative, and structural metadata
- Identifying duplicated content
- Contributing to project documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree
- Experience using Unix-based command-line interfaces
- Basic familiarity with network storage systems
