Description:
Provide quality service in acquiring, processing and cataloging library resources for the Smith College Libraries with a particular emphasis on collections data gathering and analysis. Actively support cross-unit collaboration and special projects.

The hiring range for this job is $19-24 per hour.
Essential Functions
50%:
- Order, receive and pay for library materials: Receive and process library orders from faculty, library liaisons and staff.
- Communicate with faculty and outside suppliers to acquire materials accurately and efficiently.
- Place orders for print, digital and other library materials with a variety of vendors, pay invoices, and arrive materials in electronic management system.
- Troubleshoot issues with acquisition of material and negotiate to a positive resolution.
- Catalog shelf-ready books by verifying and editing bibliographic information, creating online item records and updating holdings.
30%:
- Data Gathering and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of financial and other collection-related reports.
- Gather, maintain and analyze COUNTER compliant and other usage statistics.
- Document procedures and maintain records.
20%:
- Department support and special projects: Within the Collection and Discovery Services unit and across the Discovery, Access and Digital Engagement department, assist other groups and work on special projects with opportunities to engage in new initiatives and participate in cross-unit collaborations.
- Train and supervise student assistants.
Other Functions
Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
- 1-2 years of post-secondary education/Associates Degree plus 1-3 years experience working in a library or similar type of organization; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Excellent organization, problem solving, and communication skills; high level of attention to detail
- Ability to apply complex procedures and to organize and prioritize work effectively
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Enthusiasm for troubleshooting
- Proficiency with standard office software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of library and information science coursework
- Previous experience working in a library services platform (LSP)
- Knowledge of and comfort with library, financial, and reporting technologies
Skills
