Swampscott, MA (15,111 pop.), is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader
with strong management and team-building abilities to serve as the next
Director of the Swampscott Public Library. The Director oversees and
monitors the library’s day-to-day operations, including budgeting and
personnel management. The Director should provide innovative and
collaborative leadership as well as be part of the team, willing to jump in to
assist patrons and staff when needed. The Director needs to think
strategically and creatively in relation to use and layout of the building. The
Library is an inclusive, affirming, and accepting community center that
strives to be welcoming to everyone. The Library has an FY22 budget of
$780,000, with five FT and 13 PT employees in addition to the Director.
Applicants should have a proven track record as a Director or Assistant
Director in a public library. Candidates must have exceptional interpersonal
and communication skills, strong operations and budgetary management
skills, and be able to think strategically about facility improvements.
Extensive knowledge of professional library principles, practices, and
services is required. MBLC certification and an MLIS degree are required.
Annual salary: $100K+/-, depending on experience and qualifications. EOE.
