The Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) is seeking a part-time remote Grant Manager to provide administrative support on a federally funded project. This independent contractor position begins in early March 2022 with a pay range (depending on experience) of $20-30 hourly per week for a minimum of 7 months with the possibility of renewal.
BCALA serves as an advocate for the development, promotion, and improvement of library services and resources to the nation’s Black/African American community and provides leadership for the recruitment and professional development of Black/African American librarians. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Ability to develop, manage, and execute projects on schedule and to work on tight deadlines as needed
● Maintain budgetary control of grants and contracts, ensuring proper expense classification based on grantor guidelines
● Coordinate with BCALA Treasurer and Grant Team to prepare payments/expenditures and reports and review payments charged to grants for conformity to budget
● Maintain all grant records, including ledger, to the standard of being audit-ready
● Attend Executive Board meetings, as needed
● Attend monthly Grant Team meeting
QUALIFICATIONS:
● At least 3 years of experience managing federal grants
● Demonstrated knowledge of federal grant policy and procedures
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Proficiency in spreadsheets and accounting software, eGMS/Reach, SAM, and other grant systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in nonprofit management, business, or related field
● Knowledge of library and information science field
