Description:
The Whitman Public Library offers services to a welcoming community of 16,000 on the commuter rail
south of Boston. The library welcomes flexible candidates to apply for the position of Library Director at
our town library. The Library Director oversees all aspects of library service and is responsible for the
daily operations of the library including, but not limited to: staff management, public relations, fiscal
management, policy development and implementation, physical operations of the facility, collection
development, meeting with the Town Administrator on a regular basis and all other operational services
needed to provide optimal benefits to the library and the community. The position reports to the Board
of Library Trustees.
Qualifications:
ALA accredited MLS, 3-5 years of managerial experience in a public library setting preferred, certificate
of professional librarianship from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
