LAC Group seeks candidates for an Academic Librarian position with a renowned university in the Orange County CA area. The position will be responsible for working with the library team to manage operations of the graduate campus libraries including working with faculty, students and staff, providing group and individual instruction for basic and advanced research, and teaching information literary classes. This is a full-time benefitted position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise library staff and student workers in daily activities at the library and evaluate their performance.
- Provide in-depth research and reference assistance to faculty and students in support of the Business, Education and Psychology graduate programs.
- Collaborate with faculty to provide students with library instruction sessions.
- Assist patrons by answering general questions at the circulation desk in person, by phone, or via email.
- Maintain a reference collection development and maintenance policy statement in business, psychology, and education.
- Evaluate and recommend materials in business, education, and psychology for collection development.
- Act as a subject specialist liaison with faculty and administrators and communicate with them on a regular basis, including making sure that required and recommended texts are available on shelves and online.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating a program of orientation and instruction for students, faculty, and staff at the campus libraries.
- Instruct patrons in information seeking research skills and in the use of both print and electronic information sources.
- Create, review, and update Infoguides. Disseminate information about library services to appropriate distribution channels.
- Participate in the development, writing and updating of pertinent library documents, such as procedures manuals, database guides, and training materials.
- Plan and execute small exhibitions and presentations in the library.
- Participate in long and short-term library planning for the Library.
- Engage in research and publishing according to guidelines set forth in the Librarians’ Handbook.
- Serve on Library and University committees.
- Seek out and participate in professional development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- M.L.S or similar degree from an ALA-accredited library school. Second master’s degree in relevant subject area is a plus.
- At least 2+ years of experience as a campus/university librarian with experience in serving in-person and online graduate student populations (including international students). Experience with literary instruction, accessibility guidelines and best practices and collection development is preferred.
- Command of business and specialized bibliographic databases, reference sources and techniques for research.
- Experience using WMS or other library systems, MS Suite, Google Apps and Zoom. An interest and knowledge of emerging technologies and data literacy is a plus.
- Experience with Springshare products (LibGuides, LibAnswers and LibCal) as well as video capture and editing software is a plus.
