Description:
This is a full-time position working 21 hours per week, with excellent benefits. This position works Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9 -5. Hours may be subject to change based on library needs.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Providing basic research services in the absence of librarians through face to face and digital services; accurately and quickly providing appropriate information to patrons. This requires knowledge of electronic and print information resources.
- Effectively working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and community members.
- Providing accurate and timely administrative support to the librarians.
- Maintaining the reference collection, including filing serials, shelving and shifting books and keeping reference stacks in order.
- Providing basic troubleshooting of equipment such as copiers, microfilm readers, printers, scanners; assisting library users with MS Office suite and other software packages.
- Supervision and training of Research & Instruction student employees.
- Working on library services marketing via digital signage, social media, and more.
- Assisting other library departments as needed.
- Attending department and library staff meetings.
- Performing other related responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with library materials, including print and electronic resources.
- Positive team player who is prompt, accountable and reliable.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and focus on high-touch customer service.
- Detail-oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills, and comfort learning and using emerging technologies.
- Previous experience supervising student assistants or staff.
- A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Ability to develop credibility and trust with a wide range of constituent groups to be a successful resource to the Bryant campus community, students and families.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
- Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Open and responsive to direction and feedback.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain composure, solve problems creatively and respond to questions and concerns in a timely and supportive manner.
