McKillop Library is looking for a 21 hour a week Night and Evening Circulation Supervisor to join our team! This position is September-May while classes are in session. The incumbent will serve on the library’s circulation desk Friday evening and 10-5pm Saturday, with other hours flexible.
McKillop Library seeks highly reliable and service-oriented candidates for the position of Circulation Supervisor, Night and Weekend. The incumbent will provide exemplary service to library patrons while supporting their access to information, resources and materials. The Circulation Supervisor, Night and Weekend will provide circulation, interlibrary loan, and limited reference service, working closely with the circulation team to set and implement library policies.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees evening and weekend library circulation desk operations, opening, closing, handling emergency situations and maintaining library equipment.
- Coordinates circulation desk student coverage gaps due to illness, vacations or other absences. Serves as primary contact for desk operations (including answering phones and departmental emails) during evenings.
- Supports provision of interlibrary loan services.
- In collaboration with the public services team, assesses current services and identifies improvements by analyzing user data and national academic library trends.
- Assists with collection maintenance projects i.e.: shelving, shifting, pulling books, etc.
- Ability to work weekend and evening hours required. Adjustment of regular schedule may be required during the semester.
- May provide limited research service when library’s research librarians are not available.
Requirements:
- High school diploma required.
- Prompt, accountable and reliable.
- Demonstrated strong “people skills,” including a positive, friendly, approachable and service-oriented demeanor.
- Strong commitment to providing excellent and inclusive services to a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and community members.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, with a focus on high-touch patron service.
- Previous experience with computers and proficiency in MS Office programs required.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and supervisory skills required.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least twenty (20) pounds.
