The Newmarket Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and creative team member to serve as part-time Children’s Librarian (15 hours/week). Reporting to the Library Director, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing collections and services for children ages babies through tweens and their caregivers. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, implementing early literacy initiatives such as Mother Goose on the Loose, story times, summer learning programs, book discussions, crafts, STEAM related activities and more!
Additional responsibilities include: promotion and reporting of library activities, outreach, circulation tasks, and supervision of library assistants and volunteers. The successful candidate will enjoy working with children, exhibit exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills and seek community partnerships. An in-depth knowledge of children’s literature is essential in order to curate and maintain the collections in all formats. Experience with copy cataloging is also required for the cataloging and processing of new materials.
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three years related experience. MLIS degree preferred. Strong technology skills are a must. Hourly rate starting at $17.14 – $19.12 depending on qualifications.
