Reporting to the Senior Collections Conservator for Collections Care, the Preservation Review Librarian is an integral member of the Preservation Services team who works closely with colleagues throughout the library system to assess and address the preservation needs of Harvard Library’s general and actively circulating collections. The incumbent manages the preservation review and commercial library binding programs in Collections Care. Preservation review includes identifying damaged and deteriorated materials; assessing and sorting these items into workflows for appropriate conservation attention and treatment; training library staff on the identification and care of vulnerable collections. Commercial library binding includes managing a robust binding program with multiple Library stakeholders, acting as a liaison with the binding vendor and integrating the work with other units within the Library.
