Library Circulation Supervisor, North Kingstown Free Library, North Kingstown, RI

Responsibilities: Performs all circulation duties of lower ranking staff plus additional
responsibilities which include the following:
– Serves as supervisor for Circulation functions under the guidance of a professional
librarian.
– Assigns duties involving specialized knowledge combined with training, supervising
and participating in the work itself.
– Develops library procedures designed to simplify and expedite work flow.
– Evaluates and analyzes work processes.
– Mediates patron claims and disputes.
– Follows up on overdue library material by letter and telephone calls to patrons.
– Maintains Ocean State Libraries (OSL) patron database records.
– Chairs regular circulation staff meetings.
– Meets regularly with supervisors to discuss the ongoing planning and development of
circulation service.
– Serves on the OSL Circulation Heads Committee.


Other
– May be asked to perform public service duties at one or more service locations.
– Performs library opening and closing duties.


Experience and Training: College degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience in
library Circulation service with demonstrated ability in the use of Windows-based word
processing, spreadsheet, and calendar programs and demonstrated proficiency in seeing a project
through to completion; in exercising management and judgment skills; and in providing good
customer service.


Physical Demands: The individual must have the physical capacity to work at a library service
counter for extended periods and perform some light lifting duties that relate to general library
functions.


Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Includes evenings and weekend hours


Salary: Starting at $36,183 plus benefits
